Not too much unwanted background noise. The unit is slick and easy to use.

Sound quality is good. Lanyard not terrific idea. I don't like the lanyard. New Panasonic WH-103JZ dual-ear stereo hearing instrument blue good for people with moderate loss.

But the ear phone leads are long enough to enable unit go into a pocket without too much loss of efficiency. I have not tested it in restaurants or crowded venues. I have moderate to severe hearing loss and needed something assist at theatre, movies etc.
